Congratulations to the Bonneville Performance race team and rider Shawn Baer for being the first to put a Hinckley Triumph in an AMA National Mile. It was also the first time since Gary Nixon won it on a T100 back in 1966 that a Triumph has been in the main event at the legendary Springfield Mile. We'll have a full race report from the team up later this week.

From the Mahony Photo Archives:
This weekend AMA GNC racing returns to the "Fastest Mile in the World" at the Illinois State Fairgrounds in Springfield. FOUND AND LOST

Found this on ebay awhile back. An awesome old school 70s iron-on transfer. Looks to be John Hateley. I bought it but then was informed that the tranfer was damaged and was not going to be sent. I got my money back but was bummed out to say the least. A real Goonies moment...I found the treasure only to have it snatched from my hands. Anyone ever seen this design before? Know of any lying around somewhere?

INFO WANTED
Found this over on the VFT site and thought maybe someone out there would have the info...

I was hoping you could post some pictures of a motor I recently acquired. It is supposed to be one of Chuck or Larry Palmgren's old motors. I am not looking to sell it rather obtain some information. It is stamped with the numbers "T140 WEBB", underneath those are the numbers "RM 2 974". It also has "WEBB and N" on the front motor mount. It has a breather on the timing chest and a lot of extra fining on the top of the head. Any info any of your readers had would be much appreciated.
Thank you, Steve Royer stever@brookledge.com

FLAT TRACK BIKES FROM THE WAY SOUTH
Here's a note we received from New Zealand...
Thanks for the photos Tony! Hope the hip is better.

"My name is Tony Garry, I use to work for Robbie Stevens at his motorcycle shop in Dunedin NZ when I was younger and was fortunate to own and race these 2 bikes. I didn't realise what I had til years later when I met Jim Kelly in Australia wrenching for Springer at a race meeting in 1996. Jim said he built the bikes for Harry D Foster, 4 of them. He knew where 2 were and lost contact with the other 2 till he met me. I wish I still had them. I raced Moto X and speedway sidechairs and when I got the trackmaster first(1987) I was so surprised at the power and the awesome handling. All I can say is those 2 bikes taught me how to slide. I submit these pics as you said you were looking for some on your site. Use what you want, cheers guys.
Tony Garry"

BONNEVILLE PERFORMANCE YAVAPAI DOWNS RACE REPORT

Here's the report from the Arizona Mile from BP's Bill Gately:
"We qualified 20th overall and ran 6th in the heat race after a bad start. We got a front row start in the semi but got a bad start because we were forced to line up on the wet muddy section of the track. We made some gains but Shawn stated losing ground in the turns--we had a fuel transfer problem every time he leaned the bike over. It would light up as soon as it got into the straight away. We missed the show but are ready to make it up at Springfield."
